Funny Headless Portraits From The 19th Century

The 19th century is generally remembered as a time of science and technology, when the ideas of Charles Darwin and the telegraph of Samuel Morse changed the world forever. Tales of headless ghosts or headless horsemen that haunted the night were a source of inspiration for these comic portraits from the 1800s to early 1900s. A number of Victorian photographers combined images from more than one negative to create illusions or novelty portraits. Check out the headless portraits from the 19th century.
