Maps That Prove You Don’t Really Know Earth

When you take a look at map hanging in a geography classroom, you’re likely to see that Greenland is larger than Africa, Alaska is larger than Mexico, and Madagascar is similiar to United Kingdom. But actually, what you see is not true. The distortion is the result of the Mercator projection, which was created in 1596 to help sailors navigate the world.
