Then And Now: Photos Showing What War Did To Aleppo, Syria
Aleppo is the largest city in Syria and one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world. Around the city there are a lot of historical sites like The Ancient City of Aleppo, the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In 19 July 2012 an ongoing military confrontation began in Aleppo as a part of the Syrian Civil War. The Syrian opposition (including Free Syrian Army, Islamic Front and other Sunni militants) in partial cooperation with the Army of Conquest is fighting against the forces of the Syrian Government (supported by Hezbollah and Shiite militants) and against the Kurdish People’s Defence Units. The battle’s scale and importance led combatants to name it the “mother of battles” or “Syria’s Stalingrad”. Since the beginning of the Battle of Aleppo in 2012, the city has suffered massive destruction.
Below you can see the photos of the same places, before and after the Syrian war of the city of Aleppo. Check out what war did to Aleppo.
